Your Choices Matter

Rhubarb Farm

A community project, Elastic FM has served its local community for 13 years, providing support to various elements of the local society.

A horticultural-based environmental social enterprise, Rhubarb Farm is based in Langwith, on the Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire border.

Recovery

Recovery from drug and alcohol dependency isn't always a one-time finish line. It can be a journey of managing your relationship with substances and yourself. Finding recovery involves developing healthy coping mechanisms to deal with stress, triggers, and cravings. This often includes the need to access counselling and group therapy.

Finding and sustaining recovery also means getting professional and caring support. Some of the organisations that can help are listed below.

The logos below link to the websites of the organisations that can help. The GRID organisation (organised by Derbyshire County Council) funds 15 recovery projects in the county of Derbyshire.

The 12-Steps Programme

This is a proven method to fund and sustain sobriety. Created by Alcoholics Anonymous, the system is used around the world to support people through recovery.

Finding a meaning

Many people who are affected by addiction do not have too many (if any) life interests. Developing hobbies and interests is proven to support the recovery process.

Committing to change

People who achieve sustained recovery have three crucial mindsets:

1) Recognise that change is needed

2) Believe that recovery is possible

3) Trust in the chosen system to support recovery

Being conscious of healthy living

The food and drink that we put into our body affects our health. This may not be apparent in the short term, but it has a huge impact over time. When people truly understand the impact of what they consume, a desire to change can be triggered.

Rhubarb Farm offer a drug and alcohol recovery programme that is based around Horticultural Activities, Animal Assisted Therapy, Therapeutic Horticulture and other Holistic paths.
